Getting Married at The Village Barn
What is the price range?
Price per person is dependent on what wedding package you choose and whetheryou are in peak or off peak season. Prices range from €72 – €105 per person. With venue hire ranging from €550 – €1300.
How many can you cater for?
We can comfortably cater for up to 180 of your nearest and dearest.
Is The Village Barn an exclusive wedding venue?
Yes, The Village Barn is an exclusive wedding venue, meaning no other party or any members of the public will be on site during your wedding day. You will have exclusive use of the venue (Sanctuary, Orangery and main Barn) and the grounds on the day of your wedding. Our pub on the main street Willie’s, is open to the public, but that is separate to The Barn.
Is there a space for getting ready on the morning of the wedding?
Yes, we have our bright and airy Ready Room for you and your wedding party to use on the morning of the wedding. There is also the option to stay the night before the wedding, as we have two double rooms (located just three does down from Willies Bar).
Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
Yes, all building in the venue can be accessed by wheelchair and we have a fully accessible toilet attached to the main Barn space.
Can we get married on site?
Absolutely, we have our beautiful Sanctuary space for all on site ceremonies. There is no additional fee for using this space.
Can we have our ceremony outside?
Yes, an outdoor ceremony is possible. However, please note that there is an additional fee for chair hire, as we do not have outdoor seating available.
Is confetti allowed at the venue?
Confetti can be used inside the Sanctuary or just outside the doors. We ask that any confetti being used is biodegradable (real or dried flowers). We do not allow any plastic confetti anywhere in the venue.
What kind of deposit is required to secure a booking?
We require a non-refundable deposit of €2,000 to secure your chosen wedding date. A further non-refundable payment of €1,000 will be required 12 months in advance with 50% of the remaining bill due the week before the wedding. The balance is payable on departure.
What is a typical wedding day schedule?
We suggest
1pm – Guests begin to arrive and grab a quick drink in Willies Bar
2pm – Ceremony
3pm – Drinks & Canapés served in The Orangery
5pm – Call for Meal
5.30pm – Couples entrance & Dinner Served
(duration of meal will be dependent on number of guests, allow 2-2.5 hours)
8pm – Music/Band/DJ
10.30pm – Night Bites
Bar closing times are dependent on night of the week.
Is there a PA system/microphone for speeches?
Yes, both The Orangery and the main Barn have PA systems with microphones for speeches and background music. For a relaxed, informal vibe, we suggest doing speeches in The Orangery during the drink’s reception. If you prefer a more classic setup, the main Barn after dinner is the perfect spot.
When are final numbers required?
We require final numbers one week in advance of your wedding day, this will be the figure the invoice is based on.
When are menu choices and dietary requirements needed?
We meet our couples 4 – 5 weeks out from the wedding date. At this meeting we go through all the details for your big day taking note of everything including all menu choices & dietary requirements.
Are wedding favours allowed?
Yes wedding favours are allowed, however, if they are alcoholic (maximum 50ml) we
ask that you make a donation of €2pp to our charity partners – TEAM in Mullingar
Can I bring my own Wedding Cake?
Absolutely! You’re welcome to bring your own wedding cake. There is no extra charge for cutting and serving it. We recommend displaying and serving it in the Orangery during the drink’s reception, as guests can enjoy it alongside their canapés, tea, and coffee.
How many people can sit at each table?
Our standard tables can hold between 6 and 10 people.
Are there any decorations at the venue we can use on the day?
While we do not provide a decorating service, we have collected various decorations over the years which are on site for your use, these include: Wooden logs, lanterns and candles at the end of the pews in the Sanctuary, Wooden pallet for your table plan, a wedding post box, table numbers for the main Barn tables or wooden easels if you are printing your own table names and a variety of glass vases for flowers.
Can I add my own decorations/flowers to the different spaces?
Yes, you are welcome to add your own décor/flowers in any of our three spaces (Sanctuary, Orangery, Barn). However, we feel that given the natural character and charm of the buildings and grounds, little additional décor is needed.
Who is responsible for putting up and taking down decorations/flowers?
It is up to the wedding couple to arrange all flowers/décor to be put up and taken down, this can be done by friends, family or by a florist/décor company. You will have guaranteed access to the venue on the morning of the wedding and we ask that all decorations/flowers are cleared from the venue by 11am the following morning. Please note glitter, plastic sprinkles or small plastic table confetti is not permitted.
What overnight accommodation do you provide?
The Village Barn has two beautiful properties available for you and your guests on the night of your wedding – The Farm House and The Cosy Cottage. Is there parking at The Village Barn?
Yes, we are located in the centre of Tyrrellspass, a quiet village in Co. Westmeath. Parking for guest is available on the main street and is free of charge.
Do you have a courtesy van?
Yes, we have an 8-seater courtesy bus to get your guests home in the evening. Our courtesy van runs from 10pm until an hour after closing time. It can drop guests back to Hill Farm House and other local guest houses and B&Bs within 5km of Tyrrellspass Village.
Can I bring in my own alcohol?
No. Only alcohol that has been purchased on-site can be consumed on the premises.
